1. The agreement
These terms apply between Ashlar Mews and the person named on the storage contract (“you”). A contract begins when you accept the current terms in the member app and the first payment is made, and covers one vehicle in one bay. The vehicle must be yours or you must have the owner’s authority to store it.
2. The waiting list and deposit
Joining the waiting list requires a refundable deposit, currently shown on the packages page. It is returned in full if we cannot offer you a bay, or if you ask for it back before a contract starts, and is credited against your first invoice when you join.
3. Packages and payment
- Prices are in pounds sterling and shown on the packages page. We will tell you at least one month before any change to a rolling contract.
- Rolling packages are paid monthly by Direct Debit at the weekly rate × 52 ÷ 12. Prepaid packages are paid in full before collection.
- Collection and return are charged as separate lines, priced per journey and shown before you confirm.
- VAT is not currently charged. If we become VAT registered, invoices will show the breakdown and you will be told in advance.
4. Notice and access
- Any release, visit, collection or return must be requested at least 48 hours ahead, within our operating hours and not on a blocked date. We may make exceptions at our discretion.
- Vehicles arrive and leave by enclosed trailer through our transport partner unless we agree otherwise in writing.
- Visits are by appointment only. The premises address is shared with members only and must not be passed on.
5. Condition reports and keys
- We produce a photographed condition report at check-in and check-out and at every weekly check. You will be asked to sign off entry and exit reports; a report is treated as agreed if it is not disputed within 72 hours.
- Keys are held in our key safe and released only to you or a person you have named in writing.
6. Insurance and your responsibilities
- Your own insurance remains in force throughout. We do not insure your vehicle and our liability is limited to loss or damage caused by our negligence.
- You must keep the vehicle taxed or declared off the road, insured and, where applicable, MOT tested, and tell us of any change.
- You must not store fuel cans, hazardous materials or personal belongings in the vehicle. We are not currently able to accept fully electric or plug-in hybrid vehicles.
7. Ending the contract
- Rolling packages may be ended by either side with one month’s notice in writing.
- Prepaid packages run for their stated term; unused weeks are not refunded unless we end the contract early.
- We may end a contract immediately if payment is seriously in arrears or these terms are seriously breached.
8. Late payment and uncollected vehicles
- If a payment fails we will retry it and let you know. If an account remains unpaid for fourteen days we may suspend releases until it is settled, and we hold a lien over the vehicle for unpaid charges.
- If charges remain unpaid and the vehicle is not collected after sixty days, we may follow the procedure in the Torts (Interference with Goods) Act 1977 to recover what is owed, giving you the notices the law requires and taking legal advice before any sale.
9. General
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Nothing in them limits any right you have as a consumer. If any part is found to be unenforceable the rest continues to apply.
